Melanie Radzicki McManus, author of the memoir Thousand-Miler: Adventures Hiking the Ice Age Trail (Wisconsin Historical Society Press, 2017), will talk about her record-setting trek along the 1,100-mile Ice Age National Scenic Trail. She will also speak about the trail and its development — it's one of just 11 National Scenic Trails nationwide — and about the various successful strategies other thousand-milers have used in their hikes.
Melanie Radzicki McManus is a freelance writer specializing in active travel. She has won numerous awards for her writing, most notably prestigious Lowell Thomas Gold and Grand Awards for her travel journalism. Her first book, Thousand-Miler (Wisconsin Historical Society Press, 2017), is a memoir about her record-setting thru-hike of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail.
